Hungary, Greece, Austria
Hungary, Greece, and Austria are home to some of Europe’s most distinctive and historic wine traditions. Hungary is renowned for its Tokaji, a luscious sweet wine made from Furmint grapes, as well as bold reds from varietals like Kékfrankos and Kadarka. Greece offers a range of indigenous grapes, including Assyrtiko, known for its bright acidity and minerality; Moschofilero, a floral and aromatic white; and Xinomavro, a structured red with aging potential. Austria is best known for Grüner Veltliner, a crisp, peppery white wine, along with elegant Rieslings and red wines made from Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch. These regions combine ancient winemaking heritage with modern quality, producing wines of character and depth.
